Press Release

Dr. Michael Keil is Appointed as Program Director of Ophthalmology Residency Program at Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan

After a long affiliation with Metro Health Hospital, Dr. Michael Keil has been named Residency Director over the hospital's well respected Ophthalmology Program. Dr. Keil is excited to work with Metro Health Hospital in this capacity.

Grand Rapids, Michigan (PRWEB) January 19, 2011— Dr. Michael Keil of Keil Lasik Vision Center has achieved a long, successful career in ophthalmology and laser eye surgery. He has performed more than 5,000 Lasik surgeries; this qualifies him as one of the most experienced Lasik surgeons in Michigan. Dr. Keil is interested in not only the welfare of his patients, but also the training and instruction of the next generation of ophthalmologists and Lasik surgeons.

Because of his training and interest in education, Dr. Keil has a long standing association with Metro Health Hospital. Not only did Keil complete his residency in ophthalmology at this Grand Rapids hospital in 2005, but Dr. Keil also achieved the status of Chief Ophthalmology Resident at Metro Health Hospital. After leaving to pursue his career with Keil Lasik Vision Center, Dr. Keil continued to contribute to Metro Health Hospital; he is still a part of Metro Health Village Ophthalmology, a teaching and research group that provides full vision care services. Dr. Keil explains, "After I graduated from my residency at Metro Health Hospital I continued to teach because I feel that it is important to continue the fine tradition of education at Metro." After this long affiliation, Dr. Keil is proud to be the new Program Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Program. This residency is affiliated with Michigan State University, where Dr. Keil is a Clinical Assistant Professor.

The Ophthalmology Residency Program at Metro Health Hospital is the only ophthalmology training program in West Michigan. During this four year program, students participate in lectures, conferences, research and training to further their medical careers. Dr. Keil enjoys working with medical students, interns, and residents. His appointment as Program Director of the Ophthalmology Residency comes as little surprise to his colleagues. Dr. Keil is excited to work with Metro Health Hospital in a new capacity, and looks forward to encouraging future medical professionals: "I am very honored to be involved in the training of future ophthalmologists. I trained at Metro under the esteemed Jeffery Holtzman, D.O. and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to a field that has been very good to me."

Naturally, patients will still be able to receive Lasik vision correction by Dr. Keil at Keil Lasik Vision Center. Keil Lasik Vision Center Gives the "Gift of Sight" to Less Fortunate This Holiday Season

For the second year, Keil Lasik Vision Center is giving the "Gift of Sight" to the community. For every patient who undergoes a free Lasik exam with Keil Lasik between now and December 31, Dr. Michael Keil will make a donation allowing someone less fortunate to receive cataract surgery.

Grand Rapids, Michigan (PRWEB) November 23, 2011—Keil Lasik Vision Center is kicking off the holiday season by giving a precious gift to those less fortunate. For the second year, Keil Lasik is offering the "Gift of Sight" to cataract patients who cannot afford surgery. For every patient that schedules a free Lasik exam at this vision center between now and December 31, Dr. Michael Keil will make a donation allowing someone less fortunate to have vision restoring surgery.

Cataracts are a serious problem that afflicts many people worldwide. The 1998 World Health Report suggested that 19.34 million people were blind because of age-related cataracts; this number represents 43 percent of all blindness in the world. This same study suggests that this number is due to increase. In the United States, cataract surgery is the most commonly performed ophthalmic procedure, and helps many of our 20.5 million Americans affected by cataracts regain their sight. Though many of the people suffering from cataract related vision impairment seek surgery, many Americans cannot afford to pay for this ophthalmic procedure. Dr. Keil explains, "Blindness due to cataracts is a widespread problem, but it is a problem that can be corrected. My staff and I encourage members of the West Michigan community to join us and help give the gift of sight this holiday season."

For more information about how you can help give the gift of sight this holiday season, or to set up a free Lasik consultation with Dr. Keil, contact Keil Lasik Vision Center at (800) 806-3554. You can also find this information online at www.KeilLasik.com.

Keil Lasik Vision Center Offers College Students the Opportunity to Achieve Great Vision

Young adults are ideal candidates for Lasik surgery. As many young ophthalmic patients prepare to go back to college, they are looking for ways to leave their glasses and contact lenses at home. Dr. Keil of Keil Lasik Vision Center offers qualified patients the opportunity to achieve improved vision and independence from corrective lenses.

Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) August 21, 2011 – Young adults, between the ages of 20 and 25, have been seeking Lasik surgery in record numbers. Dr. Keil with Keil Lasik Vision Center hopes to provide laser eye options for all patients at reasonable prices. Shareef Mahdavi with SM2 Strategic, as well as experiences in Keil Lasik Vision Center, indicate that while a number of people are seeking laser vision correction, the largest growing demographic is young adults. College students appear especially interested in undergoing the surgery; the incredible results of Lasik and the fast recovery time make Lasik perfect for students who are enjoying a semester break or even a long weekend away from classes. This procedure can not only help college students leave their glasses behind when they head to campus, but it can also help them to live a more active lifestyle and become more involved with their college community through intramural sports and other fast-paced group activities. To help students, and their parents, afford this life-changing procedure, Keil Lasik Vision Center is offering reduced pricing and 0% financing through the end of August.

Lasik is a common solution for young adults who want independence from their corrective lenses. Patients who have the surgery just after their eye prescription stabilizes or "settles" can enjoy the results of their Lasik surgery for much longer than a patient who waited until later in life. Qualified candidates will be over the age of 18, have a stable eyeglass prescription, have a normal eye exam, and be in good health. Young adults are often perfect candidates for procedures with Dr. Keil.

Many people who wear glasses feel that their corrective lenses are a hassle that prevents them from living an active lifestyle. Dr. Keil at Keil Lasik Vision Center helps qualified candidates achieve improved vision to lessen their dependence on corrective lenses and live the fast-paced lifestyle that they desire.

Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) July 21, 2011 – Glasses and contact lenses can make simple activities challenging for those with less than perfect vision. When engaging in fast-paced, physical activities, bulky glasses can fall off, frames can be broken and lenses can be scratched. Contact lenses also cause problems for wearers that enjoy the outdoors. Lenses sometimes fall out during high intensity activities; contact lenses can also cause dry irritated eyes for the user. But an active lifestyle is not the only thing that is hindered by corrective lenses. Poor vision can keep patients from pursuing certain careers and corrective lenses can even impact the way patients feel about themselves.

Keil Lasik Vision Center offers patients the opportunity to improve their vision and their lifestyle. This laser vision center works with qualified candidates to achieve improved vision through all-laser Lasik surgery, all at an affordable price. For ophthalmic patients ready to put aside their glasses and contact lenses, Lasik can offer a life-changing experience. Many candidates who qualify for the Lasik procedure achieve 20/20 vision, and the majority of patients report that they are very happy with their results. After their procedures, patients are often amazed at how clearly they can see without glasses or contacts. With clear vision they are able to try physical recreational activities such as skiing or mountain biking, and can even pursue careers that require perfect vision. Patients at Keil Lasik Vision Center even report that freedom from their glasses gives them renewed self-confidence.

Keil Lasik Vision Center works offers patients the best care at the best prices in Grand Rapids, Michigan! Through the end of July, patients can experience all-laser Z-Lasik for prices starting at $999 per eye. Patients can even receive 0% financing. At this center, a skilled Lasik surgeon works with patients to assure the best possible results from their laser eye surgery. Lasik candidates can expect personalized treatment to help them on their way to improved vision and independence from corrective lenses.

Keil Lasik Vision Center Offers Laser Vision Correction That Can Save You Thousands in Corrective Lens Expenses

Many people enjoy their glasses and contact lenses, but for some they are a hassle. For those people there is no longer a need to struggle with the bulky frames, contact related dry eyes, or the expenses associated with corrective lenses. Dr. Keil and his staff at Keil Lasik Vision Center help patients to end these hassles and they can even save money in the process.

Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) June 21, 2011 – Many people in the United States suffer from refractive vision errors. While some have already opted for long-term solutions such as PRK and Lasik surgery, others are still struggling with glasses and contact lenses. Lasik and other laser vision correction procedures are able to give the majority of patients 20/20 vision or better, and allow these patients to lessen their dependence on corrective lenses. However, many ophthalmic patients shy away from these solutions because of the high costs of Lasik and other laser eye surgery.

Recent studies have shown that having Lasik surgery can actually save patients money in the long run, over continuing to use corrective lenses that must be renewed often. On average, individuals pay $200 every other year on glasses, and $350 every other year on prescription sunglasses; this assumes that these people never have to replace lost, stolen, or broken frames. A person who chooses to wear contact lenses spends $40 each month on their corrective lenses. While the initial price of these temporary corrective lenses seem much smaller, the costs accumulate over a life time. An individual who chooses to have Lasik surgery at the age of 20 can save up to $48,000 in his or her lifetime. Even individuals who wait until their 40s can see the cost benefits of Lasik surgery. This procedure, or other similar procedures, can pay for themselves in approximately three years.

Keil Lasik Vision Center is happy to work with patients who are concerned about the risks and costs associated with Lasik surgery. This practice is able to work with patients of all budgets. Keil Lasik Vision Center offers 0% financing for up to two years and very competitive pricing.

Keil Lasik Vision Center Offers Laser Vision Correction In Time For Summer

Summer is a great time to get outside and get active. Make the most of the season. Toss those bulky glasses and high maintenance contact lenses. Let Dr. Keil and his staff at Keil Lasik Vision Center help you achieve perfect vision.

Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) May 23, 2011 –Summer is the best time to get outdoors, enjoy the sunshine and get active, whether that means hitting the park trails for hiking, biking, and running, or splashing around at the pool or lake! The need for corrective lenses can spoil the fun as you take advantage of all the season has to offer. Bulky glasses can slip and fall, or get lost during many physical activities, and the beauty of the great outdoors can scratch or damage glass or plastic lenses. Even contact lenses can make eyes feel dried out, tired, and irritated.

Don't let corrective lenses stand between you and your summer fun. Laser vision correction can lessen your dependence on your glasses or contacts, and allow you to run, jump, and swim without worrying about your lenses. Many laser eye surgeries can result in perfect vision. Specifically, Lasik surgery can give you 20/20 vision or better! You can enjoy the results year round, while saving thousands on the cost of replacing expensive glasses and contacts over your lifetime.

Keil Lasik Gives Gift of Sight to Less Fortunate This Holiday Season

For every patient who has a free Lasik exam or laser eye surgery at Keil Lasik Vision Center between now and December 31, 2010, Dr. Michael Keil will make a donation so someone less fortunate can have their vision restored with cataract surgery.

Grand Rapids, Michigan (PRWEB) November 17, 2010 – Keil Lasik Vision Center will be giving the gift of sight to the less fortunate this holiday season. For every patient who has a free Lasik exam or laser eye surgery at Keil Lasik between now and December 31, 2010, Dr. Michael Keil will make a donation so someone less fortunate can have vision-restoring cataract surgery.

Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide. In 1998, the World Health Report published a report that estimated there were nearly 19.34 million people who were blind due to age-related cataracts. But blindness due to cataracts is very treatable; vision-restoring cataract surgery has helped so many people to regain their sight.

Unfortunately many people do not have the ability to afford vision-restoring cataract surgery.

"Blindness due to cataracts is a widespread problem," Dr. Keil said. "But it is a problem that can be corrected. My staff and I encourage members of the West Michigan community to join us and help give the gift of sight this holiday season."

Keil Lasik Vision Center Puts Charity First

Keil Lasik Vision Center has participated in eight charity events within the past year. Even though Keil Lasik officially opened its doors on June 10, 2010 with an open house celebration, Dr. Michael Keil and his staff have been doing charity work since December 2009 when they first started seeing patients under new ownership.

Grand Rapids, Michigan (PRWEB) August 11, 2010 – Dr. Michael Keil and the staff at Keil Lasik Vision Center have participated in eight charity events since the opening of the practice in December of 2009. The first event they participated in occurred months before their Grand Opening in December 2009, making charity work a main pillar of their business core.

In these hard economic times, most start-up companies are struggling in their first few years to take in what they need to survive. Dr. Keil, who strives to build and maintain strong ties with the surrounding Grand Rapids community, has chosen to give back first.

“I was born and raised in Michigan and I’ve lived in Grand Rapids for over eight years now. I have great respect for the people here and the community as a whole,” Dr. Keil said. “Charity work has always been a priority of mine as an individual. Now, since I can give back even more with my business, I wanted to get started right away.”

Keil Lasik donated to or participated in the following events: the Special Olympics Christmas Tree Giveaway in December 2009, the March of Dimes event in December 2009, the Cystic Fibrosis Bid for Bachelors and Bachelorettes on February 6, 2010, the West Michigan Wedding Association Leukemia Fundraiser on March 26, 2010, the ACS Hope Lodge Invitational on June 7, 2010, the Epilepsy Foundation on June 19, 2010 the Hearts of Gold Fundraiser with the Breton Downs Elementary PTA through the summer of 2010, and the ALS Fundraiser on June 26, 2010. Wavefront-Optimized Vision Correction Lasers able to Treat More Patients than Wavefront-Guided Lasers

Grand Rapids, MI, April 7th, 2010: The wavefront-optimized WaveLight Allegretto Wave™ laser is able to treat patients who did not qualify for LASIK with the wavefront-guided Visx Star S4™ laser. This was exemplified in a recent study published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. The study compared the visual acuity and higher-order aberrations (HOAs) of the wavefront-optimized and wavefront-guided lasers in LASIK.

While there was not significant difference in the successful surgery outcomes of each laser (all patients were able to see 20/25 or better following the procedure), the wavefront-optimized laser was able to treat patients that the wavefront-guided laser was not. Fourteen eyes in the study had to be switched from the wavefront-guided laser to the wavefront-optimized laser: eight eyes were switched because of poor limbal ring alignment the wavefront-guided could not correct, five eyes had inconsistent wave scans and one eye had no iris registration with the wavefront-guided laser.

Keil Lasik Vision Center in Grand Rapids utilizes the wavefront-optimized WaveLight Allegretto Wave™ in order to provide the very best in laser vision correction to more people than ever before.

“LASIK is an amazing procedure that has helped so many people see to their full potential,” Dr. Michael Keil said. “We use the WaveLight Allegretto Wave™ because we want to help as many people as possible live their lives without the hassle of glasses or contacts.” www.KeilLasik.com.
